History of Hops for Hunger - It all started with an idea

A decade ago, SACA Food Shelf was on the verge of closing its doors and needed funds immediately! A staff member had a simple idea to taste local beer and fundraise for the food shelf. With the help of 9 local craft breweries 0and local sponsors the first ever event Hops for Hunger was held. With the funds raised at the event, and the support of our incredible community, SACA Food Shelf has since become a stable source of hope. Hops for Hunger has become a beloved annual event for craft beer lovers. We are beyond excited to present Hops for Hunger 10 on March 25th, 2022.

COVID-19 POLICY

Effective immediately, SACA Food Shelf and Thrift Store requires proof of a full course of COVID-19 vaccination (and booster if applicable) OR a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to Hops for Hunger 10. Continue to check back for COVID-19 Policy updates.

What forms of proof are accepted at Hops for Hunger™?

Proof of vaccination may include the physical card(s), a photo of a complete vaccination card or by using the app Docket (approved by the state of MN Health Department) that matches the guests ID . The final dose must be completed at least fourteen days prior to the event. A negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to the event will be accepted. Proof must include the name of the person tested, type of test performed and date of negative test result. Self-reported (at-home) negative test records are not acceptable.

What if you are not vaccinated?

Guests who cannot be vaccinated due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test taken within 48 hours prior to the event. Proof must include the name of the person tested, type of test performed and date of negative test result. Self-reported (at-home) negative test records are not acceptable. To locate your nearest testing location, please visit https://mn.gov/covid19/get-tested/testing-locations/index.jsp.

Why is this policy necessary?

Taking this step ensures the safety of our guests, staff, volunteers, and the brewers, and implementing this simple measure minimizes risk and the spread of the virus. SACA Food Shelf's previous policy included mandatory vaccinations for staff and volunteers, and this is an extension of those precautions.

What do I do if I lost my vaccination card?

You can request a copy of your Minnesota vaccination record HERE. For other states, find Immunization Information Systems contact information HERE. Consider using Docket, an immunization record app to show your COVID Vaccination status - https://docket.care.
